When people think of make money blogs, they have a habit of seeing a “virtual ATM machine” that just spits out profits like crazy. I think this is a by product of all the Internet advertising and hype that dots the landscape of the Internet. The ability of blogs to generate money like an ATM is possible, but not probable for “newbie” bloggers. The path to profitability is usually much more gradual, and the level of income will grow over a period of months, not days. Blogging is still a very good way to make money online. I highly recommend that every serious online marketer have their own blog. It is a sound business decision. I will share with you some tips on how you can go about getting your own “make money blogs”. Here are my top tips:
1. Pick A Niche You Can Write Well On — You do not want to select your niche based only on money making potential. That would be a big mistake. I have seen it done by my students many times. It usually does not work out well. You have to be able to write about your niche “in depth”. By this I mean you have to be able to write about the topic in many different levels and in many different sub topics. If you do not have this “depth” of knowledge, you will kill yourself doing research to write your blog posts. This will not last long and your blog and income will suffer.
2. Become A Master Of The 500 Word Post — If you plan on making money from blogging, you will become a master of the 500+ word post in your niche. It is just a statement of fact. The sooner you realize this and embrace this fact the better off your blogging and your attitude will be. You must get high quality content up on your blog to succeed. You are going to be the source of a lot of this content. You need to master this skill very quickly to get your blog off to the great start that it needs.
3. Learn To Back Link Correctly — You are going to have to spend about 75% of your early content generation on making back links for your site. You have to do this to “jump start” your blog and get it noticed and ranked well by the search engines. This will require some learning on your part. You want to take the time right now to learn about anchor text and deep linking and the other aspects of generating back links. You have to know this “stuff” to have a successful blog online.
4. Pre- Sell Products Through Informative Posts — You will sell a lot more products on your blog when you have a functional pre-sell process going. You want to reference your products in your regular blog posts, and let your readers know how these products help you. If you do not let your readers know how the products are going to help them, they are most likely not going to buy any of them.
5. Sell Only Products You Have Used And Can Endorse — You can not do a sufficient job of pre-selling for products you have not used and know pretty much nothing about. This is a trap that a lot of ”newbie” bloggers fall into. They want to recommend every product “under the sun”, even those they are not familiar with. This is a bad practice to get into, and will hurt your relationship with your readers. You should only sell products you have used and know are good. This is a good business practice and one you should adopt as soon as possible.
You can get your share of Internet riches by starting your own blog. You just need to set it up correctly and show some patience while you develop a strong relationship with your readers. This is the foundation for making money from blogging, and is something you need to take very seriously in order to succeed.
