Making money from your blogging is a simple process that is not often easy for most new bloggers. The best way to sell things from your blog is to make recommendations on products to a group of avid followers that know, like and trust you. When you are new to blogging and your blogs is also very new, you will not make too many sales on it. That is just a matter of fact. You should not let that fact get you down, as it happens to everyone. What can you do to make sales more quickly on a new blog? You can get to know your audience. This will help you accelerate your earnings a quickly as anything I can think of. Here are some good ways I have found to get to know your audience:
1. Introduce yourself in early posts — People are not going to buy from you unless they know who you are. If you have websites up and you are not making any sales, this is probably one of the reasons. People will “shop around” when they are looking for products and services. You want to make sure your readers know who you are. You can accomplish this by telling people a little bit about yourself and your experiences in some of your first posts. The information you share does not need to be super detailed– just let people know who you are and that you care about helping them. If you do not tell them this, they will have no other way to learn it.
2. Have some good information in your “About Me” page — You should definitely have some type of page that lets people know who you are and what you do. This should be one of the first things you set up when you build your blog. People will click on this page quite often, and it gives you a great chance to tell your readers a little bit about yourself. You want to come across as an approachable person that knows what he is doing. That is pretty much all you need on this page. If you want people to contact you directly, this is a great place to include your email and Skype information.
3. Write in an engaging fashion — People will not read “boring stuff” for long. You want to write in a narrative style that seems like you are having a chat with the person at your kitchen table. It may take you a while to get this format down, but try to not write like a text book. People want to learn, but they just don’t want to feel like they are going back to school. When you engage your audience, you have the ability for them to get to know you and start to remember things about you. This can really help in return visitors to your blog– which is a key measure for your success.
4. Offer to help your readers — When you offer to help your readers, you really stand out in a crowd. If you are willing to email, chat with or even talk on the phone with your readers… that makes you special in their eyes. There will not be a lot of people that will take you up on your offer, but the ones that do will become your “raving fans”. If you don’t think you can help people in your niche, you are wrong. You know some things that your readers do not. When you are ready to share your knowledge and skills with your readers, you will be on your way to earning some income from your blog.
5. Give your readers a way to provide you feedback — This is a very important step towards getting two way communication going with your readers. When people start to give you feedback, you know you are starting to connect with your readership. Tell your readers to submit comments, to send you emails or to hit you up on Skype. You can use whatever format works best for you. The key is making this communication available to your readers. They will appreciate it and you will benefit from it greatly.
6. Take action on the feedback you get — Not all the feedback you get will be glowing endorsements of what you have to say. That is just part of putting your ideas and thoughts out into the public domain. If your readers have questions, answer them. If you get the same questions over and over again, do blog posts so all your readers can learn the answers. Make sure your reader know that you value their feedback a lot. The best way to let them know this is to take rapid action when you get some quality feedback.
Once you get to know your readers, you will learn what they need and expect from you. The better your provide the information that your readers are looking for, the sooner you will make money from your blogging.
